On Wednesday evening I checked out Old Inlet just as an overcast day gave way to brilliant blue skies and calm winds.  Although it was dead low but incoming tide, the entire sand delta was still underwater as the tides have been running higher than normal for the last few days.

The biggest change since my last video in late May is that both huge sand spits on either side of the inlet have narrowed quite a bit.  The east spit appears to be about half as wide and now resembles Florida.

Water clarity was excellent and there is something beautiful about fresh clean ocean water rushing into the bay.

Fireislandandbeyond.com has built up a huge library of Old Inlet related content, click here to check out how this incredible spot is constantly changing.

The video looks great on a big screen, if you have a smart tv with a youtube application check it out!
