After a fire gutted the Restaurant at the Watch Hill Marina last fall, plans are being made to rebuild.  Our friends from Love Fins that run both Watch Hill and Sailors Haven have shared several updates below:

Architects Wanted for the rebuilding of Whalehouse Point Restaurant at Watch Hill

We are pleased to announce we will be taking proposals for the rebuilding of the design and construction drawings for the rebuilding of Whalehouse Point Beach Bar & Restaurant at Watch Hill Marina, Fire Island National Seashore.  If you know any architects or you work in the press, please pass on the news.

We have extended the due date to Saturday 12:00 PM March 14, 2020.   Contact us for more information regarding a site visit.   The REVISED RFP can be downloaded by clicking here.

We believe this is an extraordinary opportunity for an impactful & sustainable architectural design of a National Park resource on our beautiful seashore, breathtaking comes to mind.  Yellowstone’s Old Faithful Lodge is a National Park resource to understand the significance of this project and what it can mean for Long Islanders.  Thank you for your interest.

Friends of Watch Hill

It is important to mention that Friends of Watch Hill (FOWH) — as usual — will be playing an important role in helping us raise additional funds for the rebuilding of the restaurant.  You can become a member by clicking here (https://www.friendsofwatchhill.org/).  FOWH is a non – for profit organization whose mission is to promote and support the recreational use of Watch Hill @ Fire Island. While preserving its natural resources and beauty. We are committed to developing and maintaining open, and on-going communication with the National Park Service in support of our mutual goals. We will conduct and or participate in raising funds and related activities solely for the purpose of improving the Recreational facilities of Watch Hill. Our priority goal is to enhance the Visitors experience while preserving Watch Hill’s natural beauty.

Marina Reservations open Monday March 9th

Visitor Services will be open at Watch Hill.  We have the Food Truck in the Sand & the Beach Bar Tent at Whalehouse.  We’ll have live music every weekend at both locations including the shoulder seasons (we’ll send announcements when we get the calander up).  You can reserve online with Dockwa or download the app to your smartphone & reserve slips anywhere.

We’re looking forward to another great season and seeing you all back at Watch Hill & Sailors Haven.  NOTE, Watch Hill will have full Food & Beverage services, live music and other programming as usual despite the loss of the restaurant.  The only difference:  we’ll be serving out of our food truck and under our beach bar party tent.  If you haven’t been paying attention we mobilized this for the last few weeks last season and visitors loved it.
