Editors Note: One of the advantages of running this website and putting the weekly Best of the Long Island Sun Chasers is getting to meet and feature other photographers.  One of those is Ronnie Walker, who specializes in Surf Photography from the water- going out in all kinds of conditions all year around.  Ronnie shoots with a Nikon D810, CMT carbon fiber housing and Sigma Art Lenses.  The photos on pages 1 and 2 are all from local Long Island beaches, photos on pages 3 and 4 are from Hawaii and Puerto Rico.  You can Ronnie on Instagram at RJWPHOTO  and his website

My name is Ronnie Walker and I’m a native south shore Long Islander.  I’ve been drawn to the water all my life, whether it’s swimming, surfing, snorkeling, or scuba diving.

The ocean has a unique sense of beauty that I believe should be shared with the world, so I’ve turned my passion for the water into a career, and have traveled all over the globe to photograph the Ocean.

I became inspired by the Ocean at a young age, and got my diving license at just 13 yrs old.  Since then I’ve been on numerous dives, including cave, night, and shark dives.  At 22 years old I began surfing, and since then, haven’t gone more than a few days without it.  Through surfing, I’ve learned so much about the Ocean and gained a large respect for its power.

I’ve used this experience to capture photos even in dangerous conditions to showcase its beauty.  An integral part of maintaining our beautiful beaches can be achieved if we all do our part to keep them clean.  I make it a point to collect garbage I see before leaving the beach, and encourage others to do the same.  By working together, we can preserve them and make a difference!
