The evolution of the wilderness breach at Old Inlet continues.  As you can see from the photos below, the flood deltas on both sides of the inlet are exposed at low tide.  From what I can tell, fresh sand has fanned out on both sides of the inlet and clogged many of the deeper channels that existed last year.

For a more scientific perspective, Dr. Charles Flagg of Stony Brook has been monitoring the inlet since it’s inception, you can follow his work at the Great South Bay Project here.

Also note the water clarity, it is outstanding.  I will have a feature later in the week exploring how long we can expect it stay this way.
