Almost a year and a half since a fire destroyed the Grove Hotel on Cherry Grove, the Fire Island Star is reporting on Facebook plans are fully underway to start the rebuild after the summer season.

The hotel is expected to re-open in 2017, according to the report.

The Star got in touch with the hotel owner’s attorney, Eric Russo, and published his response in full.

“This project will most probably commence construction in the Fall of 2016 for opening in the Summer of 2017,” Russo wrote, according to the news source. See the full response below.
