The storm that rolled through overnight on Halloween wasn’t as bad as feared on the south shore beaches.  There was some high surf but the tides weren’t bad and the erosion on Dune Road near Shinnecock Inlet didn’t worsen much.  I went out there on Friday morning at Sunrise to check out the situation as the emergency dredging operation was in the preparation stage.   Dune Road was open to traffic but there is not much room between the road and ocean.  On pages 4 and 5 I included some video and images of the surf breaking on the backside of the inlet and a video driving down Dune Road.

It was too windy to get any aerial footage so I will follow up with some new video taken Saturday morning of the dredging operation placing the pipe and positioning the dredge inside Shinnecock Bay.
