Following up on part I, I took the 1.5 mile hike to Old Inlet last weekend with my wife and dog to check out how the inlet has changed over the winter.  I have only seen it from the air since my last hike on New Year’s Day but there have been some significant changes.  The spit of sand that has been building on the east side of the inlet is massive, I would estimate at least 300 yards.  It feels like you are walking across a desert with nothing but sand.  For comparison, when the breach first opened it was still cutting right through the dunes with trees and vegetation lining both sides.
