Carmans River is the fourth largest river on Long Island, running from Middle Island down to the Eastern Great South Bay in Brookhaven.

The southern end runs through the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge and is a New York Designated scenic river.

It is one of my favorite spots on Long Island and perfect for kayaking or paddleboarding.

I took a morning flight over the the mouth of the river and Squassux Landing on a foggy morning a few weeks ago.
