Summer 2018 gets an early kickoff at Davis Park, Fire Island as the Davis Park Casino Bar opens for the season starting Friday.
The highlight will be the 11th annual (at least) Kentucky Derby Party on Saturday that coincides with Cinco De Mayo.
Expect drink specials, free chili, and prizes!
The Davis Park Ferry Company will be running a special boat back to Patchogue at 7:30 p.m. to make sure everyone catches the race with a special $10 fare, click here for full schedule.
For boaters, the Ferry and Tower Docks are still under reconstruction but much of the marina is in good order so slips should not be a problem. I will follow up with a photo gallery and aerial video of the marina construction progress shortly.
I stopped by the Casino Bar and Casino Cafe a few weeks ago to clean off the surf, marina and beach cams and took a few shots from inside the bar and restaurant. If you have never visited, get ready for one of the best views on Long Island.
I included a few images from the roof on Page 2. On a clear day you can see almost all of Fire Island from Robert Moses back to Smith Point Beach.
