My son and I took advantage of President’s day and decided to take a late afternoon walk from Smith Point to the Old Inlet Wilderness Breach.

Despite the wind, conditions were perfect with spring like temperatures and clear skies.

The walk is about 1.5 miles each way but can seem longer if going through the deeper sand.

The biggest change since my last visit is that the eastern shore of the breach has pushed west.  According to my phone, the eastern edge was right in the middle of where the inlet was running last year as indicated by the X below.
