Much to my surprise, most of Bellport Bay was ice-free yesterday after the warmer weather and rain on Friday.  The Ice held much better West of Howell’s point, I suspect the Old Inlet Wilderness Breach is a big factor.

As I hooped the dock, I noticed a big island of ice drift into the pier and slowly pivot around before heading east.  I set up a time-lapse video to watch it pass as I took a short flight above the ice.

The dark patches of the ice appeared to be some bog like frozen material that probably drifted off the beach at high tide.

The video and images were taken around 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
