The storm that became Hurricane Leslie has been meandering around the Central Atlantic Ocean for over two weeks! The storm has been downgraded to a tropical storm again but is expected to regain hurricane strength as it heads toward Europe and still be a hurricane into next weekend.
While Leslie hasn’t generated as much local surf as you might expect, a nice swell hit our beaches on Saturday morning, with better conditions to the East. I arrived at Shinnecock Inlet just after sunrise and was initially disappointed by the calm conditions but on cue some nice sets started rolling in.
