I was able to catch the “Super Moon” this morning as it made it’s closet pass to Earth in the last 68 years.

The next time it passes this close will be 2034, so I figured I would try to catch both the Moonset and Moonrise in case I am not around next time.

My plan for the moonrise was to head toward the Fire Island Lighthouse to get something interesting in the foreground.

As I headed to toward Robert Moses a thick overcast rolled in, crushing the odds of a clear shot at the Moon.

I killed a little time getting a few shots of the Fire Island Inlet Bridge and Water Tower from the boat basin below.
