Unfortunately, as you can see below (and in the drone video on page 1), the dune between Bellport Beach and the Old Inlet has basically been flattened and fanned out into the Bay.
To get an idea of the erosion, the photos below were taken from about the same spot with the first on March 2o13 after Sandy created the inlet.
