My friend Tommy Baldwin III runs Shoreside Support, a full service Megayacht Provisioning company.  Tommy services over 100 Megayachts and deals directly with the chefs to deliver only the highest quality meats, fruits,  vegetables and seafood.

Tommy provides next day service ranging from New York, Nantucket and Newport in the East, through the Caribbean, Miami, California, Alaska, and all the way down to Panama.

He asked me to tag along with my camera during a recent late night meeting with some of his suppliers at the Fulton Fish Market, America’s oldest.

The original market in lower Manhattan opened in 1822 near the South Street Seaport.  The entire operation relocated to Hunt’s Point in the Bronx on the edge of the East River in 2005.

The new (and very cold) warehouse is 700,000 square feet and the size of the Empire State Building.  The market is open 6 days a week but get your sleep first, it opens at 1:00 a.m. and closes at 7:00 a.m.!

The huge building houses 37 separate wholesale businesses and offers some of the freshest, most diverse selection of seafood in the World.

Seafood comes in from local fisherman on Long Island, coastal New England and fisheries around the world.  Customers range from New York’s highest end restaurants to buyers around the globe looking for the freshest, highest quality product to be shipped on flights by dawn.
