As Tropical Storm Jose made it’s closest pass Monday into Tuesday, the Ocean overwashed into the Bay at high tide at a particularly low spot west of Smith Point Beach inside the Fire Island National Seashore as you can see in the video below.

If you missed the images and video from Monday and Tuesday check here and here.

I visited the location yesterday after sunrise to see how it looked.

The most obvious change is a large deposit of sand that fans out into the bay at the end of the channel.

The Ocean front dunes have several new openings and there is small bank on both sides of the channel that leads to the bay.

This spot was flattened by Superstorm Sandy and has overwashed during storms several time since.
