The stranded Humpback Whale that was eventually euthanized last November garnered international attention and raised many questions about how it was handled and how similar situations will be dealt with going forward.

Emotions are still running high with many volunteers including baymen with equipment willing to train and be prepared to make sure there is a better response if this happens again.

NOAA Fisheries Greater Atlantic Region announced today that they will be holding a community meeting hosted by U.S. Congressman Lee Zeldin on February 7th, 2017, from 4-6 p.m. at Brookhaven Town Hall.
