Friday brought some unseasonably warm weather and a nice swell to Fire Island, with a sunrise temperature of 48 degrees making it feel more like Spring than mid Winter.

Not that it mattered to Long Island Surf Photographer and FireIslandandbeyond.com contributor Russ LaScala, who chose to put on his wetsuit and deal with 38 degree winter surf instead.

These images were taken in front of Robert Moses Field 5 with a Nikon D7100, SPL waterhousing, and a Nikkor 18-55mm.
