Long Island is 120 miles long and approximately 20 miles wide but the linear shoreline is estimated at 1600 miles.  I have lived here most of my life but am just starting to realize how much I have never seen.

The beauty of drone technology is that in a matter of minutes you can gain a bird’s-eye view and perspective over a location that would be impossible otherwise.

I had a few minutes to kill before a meeting on Thursday and took a quick flight over Stony Brook Harbor which is bordered by Head of the Harbor, Nisseqogue and Stony Brook at High Tide.  In the distance you can make out Old Field to the East and the Northport stacks to the West.

I will try to revisit soon at Low Tide, the swings here are dramatic and it should look quite a bit different.
