The second heatwave of the season extended into the weekend and with it came some epic skies.

Undaunted by the oppressive heat, the Long Island Sun Chasers were out in force both early and late, capturing some of the most stunning sunset images of the year from the East River out to the East End.

This week’s cover goes to Louis Bruno who stretched the boundaries a bit and ventured into Edgewater Park in the Bronx where he captured a stunning sunset.

Many of us complain about the traffic, congestion and taxes on Long Island, which always seem to be outweighed by the reasons we stay.

Yet in all that, through our images, we’ve found a means of capturing the beauty Long Island offers, as I’m thanked and reminded day after day by friends and family I share images with who have moved away.

So please take the time to enjoy these images and even perhaps share them on your family or high school Facebook pages, reminding those who have moved away that Long Island is still one of the most beautiful places to be.
