I saw a weather stat that April has been trending colder than February. Besides a spike that saw some parts of the Island spike into the 70’s on Friday and Saturday, the weather has been brutal.
Couple that with rather bland skies I don’t think I touched my camera this week except for a couple of wildlife shots. Luckily the Long Island Sun Chasers are never deterred and still got out there and made the best of the situation, capturing some stunning images.
A great example of this month’s crazy weather is the reason this is coming out so late. I was at Davis Park in shorts and a tee-shirt yesterday afternoon enjoying some hazy sunshine. Two hours later the temps were in the low 40’s, with a low overcast and east winds gusting to 30 mph eventually getting above 40 mph. We heard the late Davis Park Ferry had a rough ride back to Patchogue and the winds only got stronger from there. Luckily our friends let us stay over for the night, delaying a very wet and brutal ride home until this morning.
The images below span from Long Beach all the way to Montauk with a nice mix of North Shore images as the sun has moved in position for great sunsets at this time of year.
This week’s cover goes to John Randazzo who did a nice job of capturing this week’s mood.
Enjoy the rest of what looks like another chilly week!
