Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”  These lines by Rabindranath Tragore are, of course, a metaphor for life, but for the Long Island Sun Chasers, it could be our motto. There is no weather forecast we like better than “partly cloudy.” This is when, despite the short days of winter solstice, despite the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, we do our very best to get to the water- anywhere on the water with a view of the sun and those wonderful reflections on surf and sand. This is where we know that not only will we capture beautiful images, but our souls will be fed and renewed. We hope that by sharing these images, we can share that sense of renewal.

This week brought us such varied weather- bitter cold and snow, storm fronts, clearing skies and melting ice. I tried to include a little of each in the photos I had the honor of selecting as guest curator. Long Island is a beautiful place, and we have so many talented photographers to capture it for us. Winter promises so much beauty to come at the shore, but you don’t have to venture out. Leave the frozen fingers to us! Cozy up with a warm beverage and enjoy this virtual tour of our week at the beach.
