Once the research platform was over the side and the ballast tanks adjusted for the incredible weight off the starboard side of the ship,  it was time for some serious fishing.  While Ocearch has tagged Great Whites over 2000 pounds at different locations around the world, this second expedition off Montauk was focused on young Great White Sharks.  After successfully tagging 9 sharks last year from the same location, Chris knew this spot would produce again this year.  Both the Contender and Safe Boat are rigged for fishing so they can typically fish off the stern, the research platform and the two boats simultaneously.

Unfortunately, the weather turned for the worse with a hurricane swell and rain arriving right after the Chef prepared a delicious lunch for 30.  The crew had a couple run offs on the Contender but no hook ups before we had to call it a day.  The Contender brought the guests back to Star Island in a driving rain as the M/V Ocearch headed back to ride out the storm on the north side of Montauk.
